Overview

The Physicians Explore tab includes one table that displays metrics for all physicians in the states your company has contracted to see. Through the use of filters, or by browsing and choosing favorites, you can display a selection of physicians in the table of interest to you.

The Explore page for Marketscape Insights for HME/Infusion has seven different tabs - six tabs for different referrer types and one tab for billing Organizations. This article covers the Physicians tab.

Select the tab you want to open by clicking on the text in the tab.

Each tab will display different metrics, and some of the available features on the page will change.

Filters

To view all of the filters on any Explore page, click the "More Filters" button.

The following filters are available under the Physicians tab.

In short, the filters allow you to find physicians whose metrics align with specific parameters of interest to you. Some examples:

Code Set - If your company specializes in providing specific services or products, by using the Code Set filter, you can limit the table to physicians who align with the correct code sets of interest.

Click on the "Code Set" filter to open the options (shown at right)
Click on the desired code set
Click on the "Code Set" button to close the options
Click on the "Apply Filters" button

You can select multiple code sets at the same time.

Location - In almost every instance of using the Explore page, set the location filters to limit the table to physicians in a specific territory. You can choose any number of locations, including, for example, two counties or cities in adjacent different states.

Click on the "Location" filter to open the options (shown at right)
Click on the desired state or states, counties, cities, etc.
Click on the "Location" button to close the options
Click on the "Apply Filters" button

Specialty - In many cases, focusing on physicians with specific specialties will be the best way to find physicians aligned with your services.

Click on the "Specialty" filter to open the options (shown at right)
Click on the desired specialties - Subspecialties are available
Click on the "Specialty" button to close the options
Click on the "Apply Filters" button

Usage

In most cases, you will start by setting the Code Set filter and then you will set the Location filter. For some users you will only have access to a single code set, which will save you a step.

Understanding the Metrics

The table below includes a brief definition of the columns in the Explore page table for the selected tab. The following image shows all possible metrics in the Physician Explore table.

Metric name		Description

Name		The physician's name - taken from the NPPES database. The name is a link to open the Analyze page for the selected physician.
NPI		The physician's NPI - taken from the NPPES database.
County/Street Address/City/ZIP Code/Phone		Information in these columns is taken from the NPPES database from the Primary Practice Address section. For the NPPES database - see NPPES NPI Registry

Specialty/Subspecialty		The specialty and subspecialty are taken from the Taxonomy section of the NPPES database for the selected physician.
Code Set		The listed HME/Infusion code set is based on a list of HCPCS codes.
Assigned User(s)		This column displays any users from your company who have the listed physician assigned to them.
Claim Counts	All	The metrics in this column are the sum of estimated claims filed with the listed physician NPI for all claims billed during the most recent 18 months for the listed code set. The purpose is to quantify the claim volume for the listed code set where the listed physician was either the referring physician or likely influenced the referral based on Trella's algorithms.
	Medicare FFS	In contrast, this column shows the count of estimated claims filed with the listed physician NPI for claims billed through Traditional Medicare FFS during the most recent 18 months for the listed code set. The purpose is to quantify the Traditional Medicare FFS claim volume for the chosen code set where the listed physician was either the referring physician or likely influenced the referral based on Trella's algorithm.
Patient Counts	Total - All Payers	The metrics in this column are the estimated count of distinct patients who had a claim filed with the listed physician NPI for claims billed through any payer (Medicare FFS, MA, Medicaid, Commercial, Other) during the most recent 18 months for the listed code set.
	Medicare FFS	The estimated count of distinct patients who had a claim filed with the listed physician NPI for claims billed through Traditional Medicare FFS during the most recent 18 months for the listed code set. The purpose is to quantify the Traditional Medicare FFS distinct patient count for the listed code set where the listed physician was either the referring physician or likely influenced the referral based on Trella's algorithm.
	MA	This column includes the estimated count of distinct patients who had a claim filed with the listed physician NPI for claims billed through Medicare Advantage during the most recent 18 months for the listed code set. The purpose is to quantify the Medicare Advantage distinct patient count for the listed code set where the listed physician was either the referring physician or likely influenced the referral based on Trella's algorithm.
	Medicaid	The estimated count of distinct patients who had a claim filed with the listed physician NPI for claims billed through Medicaid during the most recent 18 months for the listed code set. The purpose is to quantify the Medicaid distinct patient count for the listed code set where the listed physician was either the referring physician or likely influenced the referral based on Trella's algorithm.
	Commercial	This column includes the estimated count of distinct patients who had a claim filed with the listed physician NPI for claims billed through a Commercial plan during the most recent 18 months for the listed code set. The purpose is to quantify the Commercial plan distinct patient count for the listed code set where the listed physician was either the referring physician or likely influenced the referral based on Trella's algorithm.
	Other	The estimated count of distinct patients who had a claim filed with the listed physician NPI for claims billed through an insurer other than Traditional Medicare FFS, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid or a Commercial plan during the most recent 18 months for the listed code set. The purpose is to quantify the Other distinct patient count for the listed code set where the listed physician was either the referring physician or likely influenced the referral based on Trella's algorithm. "Other" patients will typically consist of VA, Tricare, Workers Comp or Unknown payers.

Highest Affiliated Organization	Organization name	The name of the organization with that fulfilled the highest percentage of orders from the listed physician. The organization name is taken from the NPPES NPI registry. An organization is an entity that targets, engages and cultivates relationships with medical providers (physicians, therapists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, etc.)
	% of Orders	The percentage of the listed physician's orders or prescriptions for the listed code set that were fulfilled by the listed Highest Affiliated Organization.
Place of Service - Patient Count		The metrics in this column are the count of distinct patients treated by the listed physician within the selected place of service listed on the professional claim during the two-year reporting period. This column only populates when the Place of Service filter is selected. (image at left)
Payer Comparison Definitions in the product are incorrect	Medicare %	This column shows the estimated percentage of patients treated during the one year reporting period by the listed physician who were billed through Medicare FFS. This percentage is not limited to the selected code set. The purpose of this metric is to provide a payer comparison with the others listed.
	Medicare Advantage %	This column shows the estimated percentage of patients treated during the one year reporting period by the listed physician who were billed through Medicare Advantage. This percentage is not limited to the selected code set. The purpose of this metric is to provide a payer comparison with the others listed.
	Medicaid %	This column shows the estimated percentage of patients treated during the one year reporting period by the listed physician who were billed through Medicaid. This percentage is not limited to the selected code set. The purpose of this metric is to provide a payer comparison with the others listed.
	Commercial %	This column shows the estimated percentage of patients treated during the one year reporting period by the listed physician who were billed through a commercial payer. This percentage is not limited to the selected code set. The purpose of this metric is to provide a payer comparison with the others listed.
Order Rank		Decile rank that represents the number of orders or prescriptions that the physician has written for one or more of the respective codes (equipment or medication) within the code set; decile rank of 10 represents the highest volume. For more information, see How do decile rankings work?
Diagnosis Rank		Decile rank that represents the volume of patients the physician treats that have a diagnosis that is related to one or more of the respective codes within the code set; decile rank of 10 represents the highest volume. For more information, see How do decile rankings work?
